In 2021, I received an email from the Library of Congress, about including a web link of Kitchen Butterfly to its Food and Foodways Web Archive, a “historic collection of Internet materials related to the Food and Foodways Web Archive. We consider your website to be an important part of this collection and the historical record.”
Available online, the archive, as at December 2025, has 98 entries across several geographies, languages, and formats.
Once I got over it being a scam :), I was thrilled. For me, it meant that more people could find and learn about Kitchen Butterfly, the work that I do, and why it’s important – to share and showcase Nigerian and West African cuisine, alongside our global foodways connections, and all the ways we’re similar in spite of our differences. See the entry here.
What’s fascinating about the archive, is it also includes Kathryn Pauline of Cardamom and Tea, and Maryam Jillani of Pakistan Eats…
…two fellow finalists of the 2018 Saveur Blog Awards About Food and Culture…
…and fellow cookbook authors – Kathryn Pauline of 2 books – A Dish for All Seasons (Chronicle Books, 2022) and Piecemeal (Chronicle Books, 2023); and Maryam’s Pakistan (Hardie Grant, 2025).
And of course, my debut cookbook, Chop Chop: Cooking the Food of Nigeria.
Its so lovely to be in company of great and diverse food writing and exploration.
Bye x.
