We walked in to see a demo of two sorts, with a Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer and a ‘Spiralizer’.
My children were soooooooo excited, begging to have a go at the machines, and yes they were gracefully obliged.
Both machines were easy to use for small and big hands, and with a variety of vegetables.
For the Plastic Spiral Vegetable slicer, the vegetable is pinned between an immoveable part and a rotating handle.
Every turn results in vegetable curls extruded.
I was familiar with this so it was no biggie.
Enter the Spiralizer which was the big reveal for me. You use it as you would a pencil sharpener…and that was awesome.
You put the veg in at any end you like – there are two sizes of blades on either end.
You turn the vegetable and voila, vegetable shavings/ zoodles result. Now that my friends is an awesome feat. My children were eating the vegetables practically off the utensil – with pleadings of very sharp blades.
The result was lightly sauteed in a pan with some peanut sauce.
Quick, simple, delicious.
And yes, we left with a spiralizer, just in case you wanted to know.
I’m looking forward to eating very fresh ”noodles’.
Can and will wait.
