The Hague is big on culture and tourism…and every year there is a fair to welcome newcomers and entertain the old.

The aims of the fair are to provide the Expat and International community with information about professional Cultural and Leisure performances and activities in Holland. There will be specific emphasis on the 4 major cities Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. This conurbation is often referred to as the Randstad and has around 12,000 Expat and International inhabitants who live within an hour travelling time from all the 4 major cities.
We will also publish and give to each visitor a magazine, produced in conjunction with Time Out Amsterdam to coincide with the fair listing the “Dutch no problem” Culture, and Leisure events in the Holland for the cultural season 2009/2010.
So if you interested in the International Leisure & Culture possibilities within a hours drive from you home – the City Hall, The Hague on Sunday 20 September is the place to be.
We have not forgotten our roots and there will also be representatives from sports and social clubs in The Hague region present at the fair.
Last but not least, this year the fair will also be part of city of The Hague’s International Peace day festivities.
No one is excluded. Including my 4 year old. She is welcomed with an animal balloon…

We proceed to the Poffertjes stall…not that we’re starving but no harm done. We’re talking 4-5 little discs…with melted butter and sugar. Would you pass that up?
Various countries are represented…by food stalls, information stands and more…
Stores…like Sligro (one of my favourite) are there….
As expected, there are snacks to be purchased…but we’re not yet hungry
We spin the wheel to win a bicycle….a very Dutch competition. For the kids, they get a choice from various gifts. We end up with a nice mat of Snakes and Ladders.

There is definitely an autum feel to this fair….if only displayed by the chocolates at one of the stands

I saw some interesting books

Various groups – Irish Dance, Sports…and more were present
And got another chance to star in ‘Hollandwood’ with my very own TV West crew. It was nice to interview again….good practise for when I’m rich and famous!
There was loads to see and that we did. Then it was time for lunchand we opted for Phonsawan’s mobile resturant, with absolutely no regrets.
From where we sat, we could see this group doing a slow, rhythmic dance. What it was, I don’t know.
On our way out, we stopped by one last stall:’In Good Taste’

They were clearing up….
The ‘crinkle’ cookies which fascinated me
Muffins of various types
Lemon bars and New York Cheesecake…
And in kindness, they made up a plate for us!

Of course, this was sample by my husband (on our return home). Verdict – Excellent so….check them out
A nice day to spend a sunsay. Looking forward to next year’s edition.
