This is a lovely resturant in the centre of the Hague.

Giuliano's

It is small and tastefully decorated with walls are adorned with musical instruments and more.

If you sit where I sat, you get a lovely view into the kitchen…and chef’s dreaming of basil fragranced dishes….

Olives, drinks and good conversation were in plentiful supply to begin with

….helped along by warm, glowing ‘candle’ light.

The first dish to appear on the table, apart from the olives was bread and a host of toppings – garlic and herb butter, tapenade and more olives. While some loved the butter, it was the roasted tomato tapenade that had me going with its chili kick. Lovely.

This was followed by a proper Antipasto of Mozzarella, Mortadella, greens and artichokes, finished off with some Parmesan shavings.

And then we had our Primo: a Trio of pasta – Tagliatelle, Spaghetti and meatballs and some Ravioli. That was ok…nice as pasta goes…

But the crowning glory was the Dolce, arguably the BEST TIRAMISU I’ve ever had. It would also vie for the creative-way-to-serve-tiramisu award…and garnish it! It came in a tumbler and was topped with fresh, thin slices of apple, which were delicious btw- cool, crisp with a bit of tart. How do I describe the experience? A cup of cream, with bites of coffee-flavoured sponge topped with cocoa. The cream was sweet and silky on the lips. It didn’t taste ‘fatty’ or heavy, it had a whipped quality to it. The sponge, while coffee soaked was scattered throughout the cream, unlike your traditional layered tiramisu so you never knew when you would get next one! I would go back….purely for the Tiramisu!

A resturant I truly enjoyed. I will be back, with my crew in tow.
